Does the Buyer or Seller Pay Commission Fees?

The industry has experienced some sweeping changes lately, so that question is of particular interest right now. One such change is the emergence of market disruptors, such as iBuyer companies, that will come in and make a below-market-value offer on your home.

For the traditional home seller who wants to receive the highest return in the least amount of time and with the least amount of hassle, it only makes sense to go with a traditional real estate agent. Given that, commissions are just a reality of the process.

The good news for the buyer is that, in most cases, the responsibility for paying commission fees falls on the seller; they’ll compensate their own agent and, afterward, the buyer’s agent will be paid a percentage of that fee.

Here in Omaha, you can expect commission rates to be between 4% and 7%, and 40% to 50% of that goes to the buyer’s agent. In 2018, our average buyer agent at Omaha’s Elite Real Estate Group earned approximately 2.4% in commission per transaction.

If you’d like to receive more information about our fees and/or our commission rates, don’t hesitate at all to reach out to your Omaha’s Elite agent today. We’ll give you an exact figure of what you’ll net after all fees, commissions, and expenses are paid.

Whether you’re a buyer or seller, our mission is to help put the most money in your pocket and to treat you like family from the process’ start to its finish. We look forward to hearing from you today!
