3 Value-Boosting Renovations You Can Do Yourself

If you’re thinking of listing your home, what are some of the ways you can boost its value? Today, I’ve got three DIY suggestions that can help.

A question that’s been coming up often among our sellers is: “What can I do on my own to condition my property for sale?”

There are actually a number of DIY projects you can take on to boost the value of your home before you list. First on that list is painting.

Painting can be time-consuming, but it’s something nearly everyone can do. However, remember that your home needs to appeal to a broad audience. Stick to neutral colors when painting your home.

Another simple, effective way to add appeal to your home is by landscaping. Be sure that grass is cut short and bagged, dead plants are removed, bushes are trimmed, and that the yard is in overall nice condition. Also, if it’s fall, remember to rake. Curb appeal will be a huge factor in drawing in potential buyers.

Your yard isn’t the only thing that must be neat, though. Your home should be clean and organized as well. Declutter your home by removing extra items that are scattered throughout the home and may distract during showings.

Some cheaper options for storage include putting things away in a POD or SAM unit, or even temporarily placing items somewhere in the garage. Opening up space and eliminating clutter will make a huge difference.

Following these steps will get you a much better return when you take your home to market and at the time of closing.

If you have any other questions or would like more information, feel free to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
